Mannerism

Mannerism

Mannerism is an artistic current developed in Italy at the beginning of the sixteenth century, which then developed in the rest of Europe until the advent of baroque art. The Mannerist painters often proposed rich and artificial compositions with figures arranged in a very unnatural manner following a sinuous (typically S) pattern. Even the use of light is used artificially, aimed at emphasizing looks and expressions.
